Abstract

ABSTRACT STUDY ON ROLE OF NUCLEAR HYDROGEN COGENERATION FOR CO 2 CONVERSION IN PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY. Study on the process of nuclear hydrogen cogeneration for the conversion of CO 2 in the petrochemical industry has conducted. The purpose of the study was role of nuclear hydrogen cogeneration to support the conversion of CO 2 in the petrochemical industry. The method used is literature study based on the results of existing research. The results showed that nuclear hydrogen cogeneration process capable of providing large quantities of hydrogen needed as an important raw material in the petrochemical industry. Cogeneration system is also capable of providing nuclear heat energy that can be used to execute the process of CO 2 conversion. Conventionally, the needs of hydrogen as raw material for the petrochemical industry are supplied with process steam reforming of natural gas, while the needs of heat energy derived from natural gas combustion. Replacement of conventional technology of steam reforming of natural gas and thermal energy sources of natural gas combustion to CO 2 conversion with nuclear hydrogen cogeneration system, capable of suppressing the rate of depletion of fossil fuel natural gas that has implications for the reduction of CO 2 emission rate significantly. Keywords: cogeneration system, CO 2 conversion, CO 2 emission ABSTRAK STUDI PERAN KOGENERASI HIDROGEN NUKLIR UNTUK KONVERSI CO 2 PADA INDUSTRI PETROKIMIA. Telah dilakukan studi proses kogenerasi hidrogen dengan energi nuklir untuk proses konversi CO 2 pada industri petrokimia. Tujuan studi adalah untuk memahami peran kogenerasi hidrogen nuklir untuk mendukung proses konversi CO 2 pada industri petrokimia. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang sudah ada. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa proses kogenerasi hidrogen nuklir mampu menyediakan hidrogen dalam jumlah besar yang diperlukan sebagai bahan baku penting dalam industri petrokimia. Sistem kogenerasi juga mampu menyediakan energi panas nuklir yang dapat digunakan untuk menjalankan proses konversi CO 2 . Secara konvensional, kebutuhan hidrogen sebagai bahan baku industri petrokimia dipasok dengan proses steam reforming gas alam, sedang kebutuhan energi panas diperoleh dari pembakaran gas alam. Penggantian teknologi konvensional steam reforming gas alam dan sumber energi panas pembakaran gas alam untuk konversi CO 2 dengan sistem kogenerasi hidrogen nuklir, mampu menekan laju pengurasan bahan bakar fosil gas alam yang berimplikasi pada pengurangan laju emisi CO 2 yang cukup signifikan.
