Abstract

ABSTRACT PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE UNBALANCED LOAD DETECTION SYSTEM IN THE RSG-GAS REACTOR. RSG-GAS reactor has 4 detectors at the corner outside with the main purpose to detect non-symmetric power distribution in the core. If the limit of the unbalanced load factor of 16% is exceeded, the reactor should be scrammed. The objective of this research is to determine the unbalanced load factor which expresses the symmetricity of neutron flux distribution during one operational cycle. The core calculation was carried out by the 2-dimensional multigroup neutron diffusion code, BATAN-EQUIL-2D, using X-Y geometry model. The calculation results showed that the unbalance load detection system in the RSG-GAS has a high unbalanced load factor in the range 144% - 147%. The high factor because one of the detectors (JKT03 CX821) is too closed to the beryllium block reflector compared to the three other detectors. Therefore, the unbalanced detector system in RSGGAS reactor should be adjusted to express the symmetricity neutron flux distribution in the core. Reaktor RSG-GAS memiliki 4 detektor di sudut teras dengan fungsi utama mendeteksi ketidak-seimbangan daya di teras. Jika batas faktor ketidak-seimbangan sebesar 16% dilampaui, maka reaktor harus dapat dipadamkan. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah menentukan faktor beban ketidak-seimbangan yang menyatakan simetrisitas distribusi fluks neutron selama beroperasi satu siklus. Perhitungan teras dilakukan dengan paket program metode difusi neutron banyak kelompok dalam 2-dimensi, BATAN-EQUIL- 2D, dalam model geometri X-Y. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa faktor beban ketidak-seimbangan dalam rentang 144% - 147%. Nilai faktor yang tinggi disebabkan salah satu detektor (JKT03 CX821) berada pada posisi yang terlalu dekat dengan reflektor berilium. Oleh karena itu, sistem deteksi ketidak-seimbangan di RSG-GAS harus diatur untuk dapat menggambarkan distribusi fluks neutron yang simetris di teras.
