Abstract

KAPASITAS ADSORPSI ARANG BAMBU DAN ARANG BAMBU TERAKTIVASI BASA DALAM MENYERAP ION CR6+. Penelitian karakterisasi dan penentuan kapasitas adsorpsi arang bambu dan arang bambu teraktivasi basa dalam menjerap ion Cr 6+ telah dilakukan. Hasil karakterisasi arang bambu dan arang bambu teraktivasi basa menggunakan scanning electron microscope (SEM) diketahui bentuk pori dari kedua jenis arang berbentuk lingkaran dengan diameter mencapai 5 μm dan mempunyai topografi permukaan cenderung bergelombang tetapi pori-pori arang bambu teraktivasi basa lebih bersih. Hasil uji pendahuluan untuk parameter kadar air, kadar abu, daya serap terhadap iodin, serta kapasitas tukar kation dan anion berturut-turut untuk arang bambu dan arang bambu teraktivasi basa adalah 4,42% dan tidak terdeteksi; 7,33% dan 15,53%; 114,24 mg/g dan 729,85 mg/g; 4,00 mg/100g dan 6,46 mg/100g; 11,20 mg/100g dan 22,40 mg/100g. Studi optimasi menggunakan sistem adsorpsi tumpak diperoleh waktu kontak optimum 30 menit dan pH optimum 3. Model Langmuir lebih sesuai untuk proses kesetimbangan adsorpsi isotermal dengan kapasitas adsorpsi optimum untuk adsorben arang bambu dan arang bambu teraktivasi basa meningkat dari 0,229 mg/g menjadi 1,577 mg/g. Kata kunci: kapasitas adsorpsi, arang bambu, aktivasi basa CHARACTERIZATION STUDIES AND DETERMINATION OF ADSORPTION CAPACITY OF BAMBOO CHARCOAL AND BAMBOO CHARCOAL ACTIVATED ALKALINE IONS ADSORB CR6+. Characterization studies and determination of adsorption capacity of bamboo charcoal and bamboo charcoal activated alkaline ions adsorb Cr6+ has been done. Characterization results of bamboo charcoal and activated bamboo charcoal bases using scanning electron microscope (SEM) is known to form the pore of the two types of charcoal circular with a diameter estimated at 5 ım and have tended bumpy surface topography but the pores of activated bamboo charcoal alkaline cleaner. Preliminary test results for parameters water content, ash content, absorption of iodine, as well as cation and anion exchange capacity in a row for bamboo charcoal and bamboo charcoal activated base is 4.42% and not detectable; 7.33% and 15.53 %, 114.24 mg / g and 729.85 mg / g, 4.00 mg/100g and 6.46 mg/100g; 11.20 and 22.40 mg/100g mg/100g. Optimization study using a batch adsorption system obtained optimum contact time 30 min and pH optimum 3. Langmuir model is more suitable to the isothermal adsorption equilibrium process with optimum adsorption capacity of adsorbents bamboo charcoal and activated bamboo charcoal base increased from 0.229 mg/g to 1.577 mg/g.
